10 Best Wedding Films of All Time

In honor of getting married today

Today’s post is going to be short and much more personal than things normally are. June 9th is a special day for me as it is the day that I finally get to marry the love of my life, my soulmate, and best friend. In anticipation of the big day, my fiancée and I have been watching lots of wedding movies to get ready for the big day. Both re-watching the classics we have loved for years and taking the time to watch some wedding centric films that we have never seen before. It all seemed like a perfect opportunity to celebrate our wedding day by ranking my top 10 wedding movies of all time! Plus, I had some time to kill since it takes guys 1/8th of the time to get ready on wedding day.

10. My Big Fat Greek Wedding

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3' Debuts Footage at CinemaCon - Variety

For some, this is the apex mountain of wedding films. It doesn’t work for me quite as well as it does for most people, but certainly deserving of a spot on the list!

9. Crazy Rich Asians

Crazy Rich Asians' Cast Reveals What Storyline They Want to See in the Sequel (Exclusive) | Entertainment Tonight

One of the best modern wedding films made in the past couple of years. Emotionally charged and sweet performances from all involved.

8. My Best Friends Wedding

From Hollywood With Love: 'My Best Friend's Wedding' Chapter

This is one that I hadn’t seen until recently (of course my fiancée had seen it a million times), but it really worked for me. There are sections of this that could go toe to toe with the best films on this list.

7. Plus One

Plus One' Review: Navigating a Marathon of Nuptials - The New York Times

One of the least talked about great wedding movies in the world - if you haven’t seen it, it is worth the watch.

6. Rachel Getting Married

Rachel Getting Married movie review (2008) | Roger Ebert

Unlike most of the films on this list, this one is not funny, but heavy and a tearjerker from start to finish. It tells a wedding story through the eyes of someone’s sister that is getting married. Moving and heartbreaking at the same time.

5. Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids (2011) - IMDb

Other than the #2 on this list, easily the funniest wedding movie of all time. It just gets better on each rewatch. I originally had this in the 7-8 range, but after re-watching last night, I bumped it up a few spots.

4. Mama Mia

Mamma Mia! Seven things you probably didn't know about hit ABBA musical | Ents & Arts News | Sky News

Most people probably don’t think of this as a wedding movie, but when you think about it, it certainly is! I am a sucker for a musical, so no surprise it is in the top 5 for me.

3. Four Weddings and a Funeral

Four Weddings And A Funeral' At 25: The Creators Remember – Deadline

Like Rachel Getting Married, certainly a different kind of wedding movie, but an important one.

2. Wedding Crashers

Wedding Crashers' at 15: Director finally explains monumental ending

The last hour of this movie is not good at all, in fact, when re-watching this classic, I have gotten into the habit of just skipping it. That said, the first two acts of this film are some of the best comedy that has ever been shown on screen. Quotable, memorable, and as laugh out loud funny as movies get.

1. Father of the Bride

Father of the Bride | Disney+

Until about a year ago, I had never seen the Father of the Bride or the sequel. Since then, I have seen each 4 times, which says everything right there. Absolutely perfect all around.

What is your favorite movie of all time? Did I not include one that you love? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Hannah, I love you more than words, and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life by your side. See you at the alter!
